Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2027 X5 lineup includes the X5 40 xDrive, X5 xDrive50e plug-in hybrid, X5 M60i, and X5 M Competition, with BMW also listing an sDrive40i in its broader model catalog. Exterior styling remains unmistakably BMW, with a prominent kidney grille, sculpted bodywork, slim lighting, and available larger wheel designs. One notable 2027 detail is BMW’s new Winglet door-handle design, integrated into the B- and C-pillars to create smoother, more uninterrupted door surfaces. Engine (Power)

The X5 xDrive50e combines a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six with an electric motor for 483 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. The M60i uses a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, while the X5 M Competition raises output to 617 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic transmission is used across the combustion and plug-in-hybrid models.
Performance
The 2027 X5 40 xDrive can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.1 seconds, while the plug-in-hybrid xDrive50e does it in about 4.6 seconds. The M60i lowers that time to roughly 4.2 seconds, and the X5 M Competition is rated at approximately 3.7 seconds. BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system helps distribute power as traction demands change, while performance-focused trims add more aggressive chassis and suspension tuning. Properly equipped, the X5 40 xDrive can also tow up to 7,710 pounds.
Interior
The 2027 BMW X5 combines premium materials with a technology-heavy, driver-focused cabin designed for five occupants.
